Northern California manhunt on for “Bearded Bandit”
Published Wednesday March 23
A man dubbed the Bearded Bandit by law enforcement is being sought for at least eleven bank robberies throughout Northern Ca. in the last 5 weeks, including at least 6 in the East Bay, authorities remarked Wednesday.
Given the nickname because of his hirsute appearance, the man is also suspected of attempted robbery and was observed casing 3 other banks, authorities said.
His method is to enter a bank and give a demand note to a teller, often from a black merchant’s bag, and has left the banks without incident. No weapons have been simulated or displayed, the FBI remarked in a news release issued Wednesday.
